We are a Whānau Māori living with disability and neurodiversity.

Our youngest son, Manaakiao, was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome when he was 4 years old. We also have APD (audio processing disorder) and Aroreretini (Adhd) within our whānau.

Although we are all unique and very diverse from each other, one thing we all have in common is sensory seeking/avoidance and the need to stim and/or have sensory tools to help keep us mauri tau, or focused.

Te Ao Māori offers lots of unique sensory experiences and we would like to take inspiration from our taiao to create products to promote mauri tau, health and wellness.

Taonga Tairongo (sensory tools), that fit aesthetically into our homes and incorporate modern Māori design.

We would also like to use this as a vehicle to educate people about the Māori worldview of "disability" and to shift the kōrero to a strengths-based view and away from the kōrero of "deficit", "disorder" etc.
